I have a secret that is totally being busted by this blog post.
I have a great gift planned for my siblings, in-laws, and their families (who are we kidding? it’s for the ladies). This gift would have made for a nice “ahhhh, these are so cute!” moment on Christmas Eve, but I love the gift so much that I am going to share it with you today. And of course, they will read this and know what they are getting. But, they will totally pretend like they are surprised when they open these gifts… WON’T THEY? (hint, hint, wink, smooches, hugs…)
Lately I have been perrrrdy bad at remembering the birthdays of my little nieces and nephews (and most recently mother-in-law- OH NO!). We love to call and loudly sing “Happy Birthday” to our extended family members on their birthdays. I mean- we ain’t nice enough to send a card or a gift, but at least we try to call! Mediocrity, people, it is our mantra.
After forgetting way too many birthdays to feel like a decent auntie anymore, I’ve decided that it is time to make a Perpetual Birthday Calendar. Have you seen these? They are a re-usable calendar with birthdays and anniversaries listed on them. They are more of a list than a calendar, because they do not include days of the week or years.
The clip serves as both a way to keep the pages together and also the hanging hardware for the calendar. It’ll sit right on a nail in the wall and serve you year after year! I decorated the binder clips with scrapbook paper, a glue stick, and some ribbon/twine.
Nothing fancy here, Nancy!
I made the calendars extra gift-able by inking the edges of each page with an ink pad. This really was the finishing touch for the calendar gifts.
These calendars are 4 inches wide and 12 inches long. I made them by cutting 12×12 scrapbook paper into thirds, adjusting the settings on my printer by creating a custom paper size (this is actually the hard part), creating the calendars in Microsoft Word, and then printing them off.
So, do you want to make them too? Ok! You should! Click below and download the documents. Then feel free to add your Family Name to the top, add your own names and dates, then print. OR you can print them as is and write the names in by hand.
Tip of the day: use pencil to write in your annoying, suspicious, jerk-headed brother-in-law’s birthday. Then erase him later. {You are welcome for that}
Have fun with these! Happy Holiday Busy-ness!

I’ve decided that I love this project enough that I am getting the word out! Find me linked here:

that is a great idea! if i give you all the dates in my family will you make mine. ;) ha ha!
wonderful idea Angie!! I will have to borrow that idea one of these years!!
yes. i will. if you send me a bajillion dollars. or lose 2 pounds for me. or paint something. i'm easy like that!
this year, juanita, this year! :-)
Love it! My grandfather had one of these in his apartment in Brussels eons ago. I always thought it was such a great idea that when I finally had my own place I bought one for myself. It's travelled along with me ever since. I love it. And yes, I always use pencil as you never know when you may want to "delete" someone. ;) I use it for birthdays, anniversaries and (sometimes) death days (although it is a bit morbid). Love your homemade version! Much less expensive than the $17 you can pay on Amazon for the Monet one I have. Nice job!
I TOTALLY didn't see this blog. You were just saying (at least thinking) that grandma forgets a lot of birthdays, too. Thanks, and i will be surprised on Christmas morning.
Hugs and kisses. MOM
