Let Me Introduce You

blogger brunch
Back Row, standing: Katelyn, Kyra, Shannon, Kathy, ME, Andi, and Felicity
Cassie, Amy, seated right behind Amy is Renee, then Sarah, Laurie, and Melissa.

Let me introduce you to some way fun bloggers that I met on Saturday. Long story short: Kyra of Racks and Mooby (who happens to be friends with Clinton Kelly… whatever.) told Roo of NiceGirlNotes that she should come down to VA and attend a brunch that was being hosted by Cassie of Primitive and Proper and Melissa of HOUSEography. Roo said, “Gosh Dernit, I ain’t gonna make it” but then forwarded the info to me.

And I died. In awe of both Cassie and Melissa’s homes and blogs commenced feeling like a silly little girl who loves her nail gun. How had I not found them before? Especially since we are both in the DC area? {shame on me}

You HAVE to read them. P.S. Melissa’s home was recently featured (“crashed”) by Young House Love. Whatever, I don’t even know why… it’s just a house. THAT BLOWS MY MIND! I would settle for just having the bedroom doors. I am pretty sure I am the only one who even noticed the craftsmanship of the doors. I’ll take those.

Moving on: I had a blast! It all began with me showing up 45 minutes late with a trough of spinach salad on my hip. Really. See this big “bucket”? It was all I could find that was big enough to hold my salad. Unfortunately it is also big enough to bathe it.

Since everybody had already filled their plates by the time I arrived, and I wasn’t about to let that beautiful, yummy, “Oh! Can I have your recipe?” salad go to waste, I proceeded to parade that salad bucket around the house offering people some salad whether they wanted it or not.

I know how to make an entry.

Here are some of the women I met, in order of “Hi, name is Angie. I blog at SeriouslyAHomemaker. Eat my salad! Also what is your name?”

Kyra of Racks and Mooby. She drinks Diet Coke on my behalf EVERY MORNING.

Sarah, The Thriftress. I think we are meant to be.

Shannon of the HaseHouse. She has poise and style. Every good thing needs it’s opposite. I am her yang.

Laurie of Little Blue Chairs had me at “hello.” And also, my jaw hit the floor when I opened up her blog and found this: turquoise striped floors. She PAINTED THE SUB-FLOORS. And… to boot, her husband is in Afghanistan for 6 months. I like her kind of “keeping busy.”

Next I crashed the intimate conversation between Felicity and Amy. Felicity blogs at Our Little Beehive and is getting ready to punch some window people in the nose.

Amy is a new blogger at My Sun Shines Here and we are officially friends. I like ‘er.

Andi, Jane of all Crafts, is freakin’ awesome. Hi Andi. It was totally weird and awesome that you actually read my blog and stuff. I loved meeting you and think I’d like to keep you in my pocket. If you were Polly Pocket-sized.

Kathy is also a new blogger at All About Vignettes and just adorable to listen to. “What is SEO?” “What is a feed burner?” Kathy, remember that blogger that I told you to read? Here she is: Feels Like Home gives great tips on SEO (search engine optimization).

Katelyn blogs at The Eclectic Traditionalist and I have to show you this post where she posted a video of Good Morning America hosts asking “what is the internet? from 1994. It’s awesome! Katelyn brings great things from around the internet to you for your viewing pleasure.

Renee blogs at TheGrassIsGreener-RZ and she has a way with paint. But it’s  a totally different way than Laurie’s way with paint. Check her out.

I already linked to Cassie at Primitive and Proper, but she is worth another mention. I am kind of afraid of her in the same way that I am afraid of winning a million dollars. She is creative, productive, beautiful, fit, fun, and so friendly. We’d all hate her is she wasn’t so dang nice.

I loved these girls and I can’t wait to get together with them again!

Ok, writing and linking this post took me longer than the entire brunch.

The End.

P.S. I am not proofreading this one, folks, because I just ran 3 miles, have to get the kids up, have a meeting AT my house this morning, and I stink. Pretend there are no typos. I’LL LOVE YOU FOR IT!

  6. Polly Pocket...I'm flattered since she is so skinny and wears the cutest clothes (even if they are a pain in the you know what to get on) ;-) But seriously, you're so sweet! I'm so glad you were there, spinach trough and all! I didn't tell you this but when we got the list of attendees I was super stoked that I would get to meet you in person! Sorry if that weirds you out. I just knew I would like ya! And Cassie is that awesome and humble too :-) Everyone was fun to get to know. Can't wait to do it again. And like Sarah said, 3 miles...A-mazing! I have a 5k race in June and I'm not even up to 3 miles yet!

  8. I think you are friggin hilarious. I found you through some convoluted series of events and through so many blogs, that I'm not sure I could list them.

Yes I can: Young House Love, which led to Houseography, which led to YOU.

So glad it did! You make me laugh. I'm sad that I didn't get to have brunch with all of you as fun as it sounds.

I'm a new follower. Can't wait to learn more about you. =)

  13. Angie! You are hilarious. I love it. Well, since you met all your fellow bloggers out there and you come to Utah and your inlaws are driving you crazy, feel free to come spend a day with me! Remember me? I am the "creepy" one. Did you get the meal planning and calorie counting sheets? Anyway, I am glad you are sharing all these fun blogs. I will definately look them up during my "nursing" time. Julia
