Ha ha ha ha ha
One year ago (or so) I started this blog. So, in blog years, it’s like, a kindergartener. Kindergartener is hard to spell. Way back in the day, when Seriously A Homemaker was still in the womb of my crazy pregnant mind, I imagined that we’d talk a lot more about homemaking (both the art of homemaking and the act of making a home (ie. tools and grout, etc)) than we actually do.
It turns out that writing about Diet Coke, nosy neighbors, and poopy puppies is a lot more fun than telling you how to make-over your spice cabinet. And truth be told, I think that most of you readers quite enjoy the dose of REAL and FUN that find here and that’s what makes this a homemaking blog nonetheless. Can I get an ‘amen?’
So, back to the original plan: See that tab on the top of my blog labeled “10 Minute Monday”? The last time I published a 10 Minute Monday post was over a year ago! I cleaned my room in 10 minutes and it has been clean ever since. {wink}
Yesterday I spent most of the day in the kitchen, standing at the counter, doing hardly anything productive- all while pretending to “workin’ in the kitchen.” Basically I stood there, leaning on the counter, reading newspapers, making food, eating food, and not cleaning a darn thing.
Then came 8:00 p.m. The Manchild was upstairs putting the kids to bed (he is getting REALLY good at doing this without me. Somebody pinch me… life is good!) I knew I didn’t want to wake up to this mess:

And suddenly, 10 Minute Monday was reborn!
One big (little) mess.
Exactly 10 minutes to kick its butt.
Pictures to prove it.
Walk away feeling like a rock star!
BEFORE AFTER

Behold, a stash of goodies high above the reach of little bitty hands who love chocolate as much as I do. Can you see it? Shushhhhhh.
These pictures have just made me hate that light over the sink even more than I already had. But guess what… it cost me $1.97, so I am going to retain some love for it and not throw a fit.
When I clean up a disgraceful space in just 10 minutes, I honestly feel such a burden lifted and euphoric feelings of accomplishment. I decided that today I would do 4 more 10 Minute Mondays in all the rooms that are bothering me these days and end the day in complete bliss. It is now 12:30 pm and I have not done any rooms yet.
Whatever.

it was so great to meet you in person! i think you have got to be one of the funniest people. i was dying, when you were talking about laughing and crying yourself into a hole. i will come up with something… i mean after all, what's 10 minutes, right? in 10 minutes i can pick my dirty pajamas up off the floor and wow what a difference!
I love this idea of getting as much done as you can in 10 minutes. Especially when the mess is overwhelming, I am always surprised how much I can get done when I set a timer for 10 minutes.
Also, that necklace you're wearing? Sooooo cute!
Love the salad bowl I see there in the "before" photo… ;)
D'oh!! That just posted under my husband's login ID. Sorry! LOL. Really enjoyed meeting you the other day. Feel free to live your Diet Coke addiction through my daily morning ritual. :)
