I wrote a post last night about our new puppy, and the challenge she has been for us. But now I am taking it all back. ‘Cause gosh darnit, she is cute. And the whole chewing thing… that was so last month. She sticks to her toys and bones nowadays.
And the whole peeing on the floor. She does pretty well. She is a puppy, right?
And the comment about my husband being sick for the last 3 weeks? He’s been quite sick. He had strep throat, but even with antibiotics, he didn’t really get better.
Guess what? He realized today that he is allergic to the dog.
Which is actually really sad, because when my daughter finds out that we need to find a new home for Penny, she is going to be absolutely devastated. Crushed.
But at the same time, it is a relief, because the whole puppy + 4 kids + attempts for sanity hasn’t been easy. Nobody said it would be, though.
What should we do now? How do you find a home for your daughter’s best friend? How do you convince someone to take her and love her?
What do you bribe your daughter with to ease the pain of loss?
How do you pretend like all of this isn’t a relief, because you were never a dog person in the first place and you’ve since realized that you are in way over your head?
Penny is my puppy’s name
She cute and sweet, it’s a crying shame
She melts your heart with those puppy eyes
Manchild’s allergy came as a surpriseWe’d like to keep her and make it work
This feeling of relief makes me a jerk
Does anybody want my dog?
I’m desperate enough to use the blog!
The funny thing I didn’t expect?
The love b/w baby and puppy is direct
He really loves his furry friend
True, all good things come to an endThis is the end of my dog-induced poem
Help me find pup a new home
I’m ready for Manchild to be well
And try some dog-less-ness for a spell

Happy “Marthin Looter King” Day. That’s what my 5 year old calls him. We think he’s awesome.

This is why we don't have any pets. Except the allergy reason. Mainly the, they are so stinkin' cute but so much work reason. My kids, especially my middle daughter think I'm a bad person because I won't get them a pet but I just keep telling them when they grow up and live in their own house they can have as many pets as they want!
Good luck finding your cutie a new home!
Too bad it's not working out! Lucky that the manchild is allergic though because it's an easy out of the situation. We're not dog people either. I think I would FAKE an allergy if I had to…..
What if you got a dog that is hypo-allergenic? Poodles and Bichons do not shed/let off dander. THUS why we have that type of dog because I am allergic to dogs. (We have a Bichon). Dogs are hard but I love em to death!
Sad, you have to give Penny away?? That is the cutest dog EVER!!!!!!!!!!! My oldest is the biggest cat freak ever to live and she recently discovered she is allergic to them too. Woe is her!
Well I would take her if I lived near you! She is a cutie patootie! She would fit in with our Bichon! Maybe it is because she is not pure-breed (bread?) thus why he is allergic. Come on Angie…be a snob like us and go for pure breeds! *grin*
Take them to Disney world–that's the only way out of this one babe! So sorry!
Yes, just don't let anyone you are trying to give the dog to read the previous posts :)
